Who Is The Word?

0:07 Yes, and this is episode 2 of Deep Things of his word.

0:14 So today we are looking at a special question.

0:18 Who is the word of God? John chapter one verse one in

0:24 the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the

0:29 Word was God. John chapter one, verse 14 And

0:35 the word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us, and we beheld

0:40 his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,

0:45 full of grace and truth. Verse 16.

0:49 And of his fullness have all we received grace in place of grace

0:55 already given. According to Revelation chapter

0:59 19 verse 13, He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his

1:04 name is the word of God. OK, so the Greeks use the word

1:11 in two ways. It could mean a person's

1:14 thoughts or reason, or it may refer to a person's speech, the

1:19 expression of thoughts. As a philosophical term, Logos

1:26 here conveyed the rational principle that governed the

1:30 universe, even the creative energy that generated the

1:34 universe. So what do I mean by this?

1:37 In both the Jewish and Greek conceptions, logos conveyed the

1:42 idea of beginnings. The world began through the

1:47 world where the expression God says occurred repeatedly.

1:52 Recall in Genesis chapter one, verse 3 and he said, and God

1:55 said, let there be light, and there was light.

1:59 OK, Now in the Hebrew language of the Old Testament, the word

2:05 is described as an agent of creation according to Psalm 33,

2:12 verse 6, by the word of the Lord.

2:14 We are the heavens made, and all the hosts of them by the break

2:19 of his mouth. Also the word is described as

2:23 the source of God's message to His people through the prophets

2:27 according to Hosea chapter one, verse 2A, the beginning of the

2:31 word of the Lord by Hosea. Then finally the word is

2:36 described as God's law, His standard of holiness according

2:41 to Psalm 119, verse 11. Thy word have I hid in my heart,

2:47 that I might not sing against Thee.

2:49 Now listen to this. God's word is accessible to all

2:55 in the Bible. The Bible contains the word of

2:59 God. I think everybody already knows

3:01 this. And the quality of your

3:03 Christian work is predicated by the amount of the Word of God

3:08 that you hear, that you receive, that you believe, and that you

3:14 engage by faith. A believer thrives in this

3:18 Kingdom to the degree to which they build confidence in his

3:24 world. Now listen to this.

3:28 We should prioritize the personal study of God's Word

3:31 over what anyone tells us about His Word.

3:35 It's very amazing and beautiful to listen to preachers and

3:39 listen to sermons. That's very important.

3:41 I recommend that but also important to have a sustainable

3:48 personal study of the word of God.

3:51 Don't just live your life and gather everything you know about

3:55 God's word from people. Also go and build it.

3:59 Study personally the Word of God according to Matthew chapter 4

4:05 verse 4, and it says man shall not live on bread alone, but by

4:11 every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

4:15 That's the sent word. Now Jesus came as the Word

4:18 Incarnate, the Logos of the Father.

4:21 If you can recall the story of the woman with the issue of

4:24 blood or woman, the bleeding disorder, it's seen in Mark

4:28 chapter 5 from verse 25 to 34. So because of time, I might not

4:32 really read it, but I want to just highlight something.

4:36 The woman did not come to move with the crowd.

4:39 Her son would say she did not come to play.

4:42 She invented her own freedom by her faith when she touched the

4:46 clothes of Jesus. Though if you can note from

4:49 here, we make contact with the Word of God through our faith.

4:54 The victory of the believer is not tied to anything physical on

4:58 us. It's not tied to the person's

5:01 knowledge, connection, wealth or anything.

5:06 Instead, it is tied to the integrity of God's word.

5:12 Possibilities in the Kingdom revolves around the speakings of

5:16 God. So endeavour, you are where the

5:19 Word of God is, not necessarily where the crowd is.

5:23 Now the golden question, does the Word of God here refer to

5:28 Jesus or the Scripture? The golden question of who is

5:32 the word of God? Who is His word?

5:35 Now this is the answer. Listen carefully.

5:40 There is the Word as a person that's our Savior Jesus Christ,

5:44 and there's the Word as the compendium of the thoughts and

5:50 the speakings of God, and that's the logos containing the

5:53 Scriptures. So from our anchor scripture,

5:57 Hebrews chapter 4 verse 12. For the word of God is living

6:02 and powerful and sharper than any 2 edged sword, piercing even

6:07 to the division of soul and spirit and of joints and marrow,

6:13 and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the

6:16 heart. So although Jesus Christ is

6:19 called the Word in John chapter one verse, one who came as God's

6:24 ultimate communication to humanity, the comparison with a

6:28 sharp sword in Hebrews chapter 4 verse 12 indicates that the Word

6:34 of God here more likely refers to God's revelation in the

6:39 Bible. But Jesus as the Logos reveals

6:44 God's mind to us. Listen to this.

6:47 The Word is God, the Word became flesh, and the Word revealed

6:54 God. The Word of God is also the

6:57 voice of God. If you recall from our just

7:02 illustrated story, we contact God's word through our faith,

7:08 but our faith comes through the word of God according to romance

7:12 chapter 10, verse 710. Consequently, faith comes by

7:17 hearing and hearing by the word of God or the word of Christ.

7:23 Concluding the power of God goes with His word.

7:29 So if you wanted the power of God, you have to engage His

7:33 word. So as time goes on in this

7:36 episodes, as in this series of his Word, we'll learn how to

7:40 engage his word and other parameters and how you can

7:45 actually get the best of His word or work with His word,

7:48 understand his word. So when you interact with his

7:53 word, with God's Word, be expectant for it and also

7:57 receive it with all your heart. Finally, the Bible is a

8:03 compendium of the speakings of God.
