Receiving His Word

0:02 Hello everybody, welcome once again to Deep Things.

0:05 Oh dear. And yes, this is episode 3 of

0:10 Deep Things of His Word. So today we're looking at a

0:18 topic, receiving His Word. So what has God said concerning

0:25 your life? What has God said concerning

0:28 your business? What has God said concerning

0:31 your spiritual life? What has he said concerning your

0:34 career? What has he said concern your

0:37 academics should What has God said about everything that

0:43 concerns you? Note, if you want to receive

0:48 from God, you must know what God said.

0:51 The Word of God carries the power of God.

0:56 So if you pay attention to the Word of God, then you have found

1:00 the key to securing the power of God in your life.

1:04 You have to be hungry for the Word of God.

1:07 That's the secret, that's the key.

1:11 According to Psalm 130, verse 5, it says I wait for the Lord.

1:16 My hope being waits, and in His Word I put my hope.

1:22 The raw material to producing results in this Kingdom is the

1:26 Word of God according to John chapter one verse 3.

1:31 Through Him all things were made.

1:33 Without Him nothing was made that has been made.

1:37 So everything has been made by the Word.

1:42 That's through Jesus. Nothing has existed that was not

1:46 through Him. When God gives you His word, He

1:49 gives you Himself. I come again.

1:52 When the Lord gives you His word, He gives you Himself.

1:57 It is one thing to be given something, it's another thing to

2:00 receive. The kids make rest reference to

2:03 deep things of mercy. The entire series we are

2:07 speaking about how to receive mercy and we kind of spoke about

2:11 how to receive so you can make reference today.

2:14 OK, so earlier I asked the question about what has got it

2:19 concerning your life, your career, your spiritual life and

2:22 various aspects of your life. God can keep speaking over your

2:26 life, but if you don't claim it, you would never see the result.

2:31 According to John chapter one verse 9 to 12, it says the true

2:36 light that gives light to everyone was coming into the

2:41 world. He was in the world and though

2:45 the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.

2:51 He came to that which was his own, but his aunt did not

2:56 receive him. Listen yet to all who did

3:01 receive him to to those who believed in his name, He gave

3:07 the right to become children of God.

3:10 Take note, there's a connection between receiving the Word and

3:14 believing the Word of God. You cannot receive the Word

3:17 without first believing. See Matthew chapter 8 verse 13

3:22 that says then Jesus said to the centurion, go let it be just as

3:27 you believed it would and his servant was healed at the

3:31 moment. Now this is story of a centurion

3:34 that asked Jesus to just pick a word over his servant instead of

3:39 coming to his house. He believed God's Word was

3:42 powerful enough to heal His servant from any location.

3:48 Now God's Word contains His promises and His principles.

3:54 One way of believing His Word is to know His Word.

3:59 If you don't know it, how then will you believe what you don't

4:02 know? According to First Kings chapter

4:05 8 verse 56 B, not one word has failed of all the good promises

4:11 He gave through His servant Moses.

4:14 Again, Jeremiah chapter one verse 12, the Lord said to me,

4:19 you have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word

4:24 is fulfilled. Now imagine knowing all these

4:28 truths about God's Word while we're believing His word be

4:31 heard. When you know that he's looking

4:33 at the promises to make sure they come to pass and His word

4:36 make sure they're fulfilled. Now for today's episode, What

4:40 does it mean to really be to really receive his word?

4:44 What does it mean to receive his word?

4:47 It means to receive light. So Psalm chapter 119, verse 130,

4:56 it says the entrance of your word gives light.

5:00 It gives understanding to the simple.

5:03 And that translation says, break open your word within me until

5:08 revelation light shines out. Those with open hearts are

5:13 giving insight into your plans. So those that receive His word

5:18 receive light. Now how do we receive His word?

5:26 I like how this is going. So the first way is by acting on

5:32 it by your fate. So there are many ways.

5:36 You have people that have ways of receiving the word.

5:38 There are many ways, right? But I just highlighted just

5:41 three. OK, there are many other ways,

5:43 but this three, I've seen it work, and I trust God in your

5:47 life. If you use it, it also work in

5:49 your life too. So #1 by acting on it, by your

5:54 fate. So when you act on the Word, it

5:58 shows you have caught it, you have received it according to

6:03 Hebrews chapter 4 verse 2. For we have heard the good news

6:09 of deliverance just as they did, yet they didn't join their faith

6:14 with the world. Instead, what they heard didn't

6:17 affect them deeply, for they doubted.

6:22 OK, so your faith should be mixed with the world if you want

6:27 to see results. So how will you receive it if

6:31 you receive with your faith? Now receive the word with your

6:35 feet another ways you receive His word or light.

6:40 Like we've already said earlier on with joy, according to Isaiah

6:45 chapter 12, verse three, with joy you will draw water from the

6:50 wells of salvation. You know, when I initially saw

6:54 this scripture a while back, I envisioned Joy to be a fetcher.

7:01 You know, for those that already know they're not about well or

7:04 maybe a bowl for those that you start.

7:07 So you want to get butter and you don't have made from the

7:12 well and you don't have a fetcher.

7:14 You can't fetch anything from there.

7:16 You can't get anything from there or you go into the tap.

7:18 I want to pick up water to probably do something with you

7:21 want to transport the water and I want a bucket or a bowl.

7:26 You cannot take water out of there.

7:28 It's literally going to slip away from your hands.

7:31 So in this case from this scripture, it say with joy you

7:35 will draw waters from the wells of salvation.

7:39 So with joy you can receive. How do you do that?

7:42 When you rejoice, your spirit opens up and like an antenna, it

7:47 picks the world. This is a cue to this is a cue

7:53 to rejoice more at the world. So what do I mean by this?

7:57 If you don't redress at the word of God, that means you don't

8:00 honour or believe the owner of the world.

8:03 Imagine if someone tells you, I'll give you, I'll give you a

8:06 scholarship to further your academics or maybe to do

8:11 whatever you want to do or maybe give you a business scholarship

8:14 as an entrepreneur. You are.

8:17 And you're like, Oh my gosh, thank you Jesus, thank you.

8:20 Oh, Amen. Thank you.

8:21 Oh, I intend the person so much. You have not seen it here.

8:24 The person said I will. OK, but the fact you're even

8:28 happy the person said it, that means you believe the person is

8:31 capable of doing it. Then imagine someone or the

8:36 child walks up to you and says I will buy you biscuits.

8:44 You don't say OK sure. Or maybe you never said

8:46 anything. You just look at the child and

8:48 I'll be like hey yeah right. You don't believe that child can

8:52 do it. And besides, what will child

8:53 give you that will actually be interesting to you?

8:57 OK, so if you don't rejoice at the word of God, that means you

9:01 don't honour or believe the owner of the world.

9:05 So I feel like shaking the table right now.

9:08 So just follow me. So as simple as shouting Amen or

9:13 I, I receive it, that that's a way to rejoice at the world.

9:19 So you're studying the world and illustration, other

9:22 illustration. So you're studying the word and

9:24 you stumble on, let's say, draw chapter 2, verse 26.

9:28 That's it. And you shall eat in plenty and

9:31 be satisfied and praise the name of the Lord your God who has

9:36 dealt wondrously with you. And my people shall never be put

9:40 to shame. Ah, my default response to this

9:44 will be Hallelujah, and not just modding my head in silence.

9:48 No, think about it. I just hope you understand now.

9:52 So as you rejoice at the received world, it seeps into

9:56 your spirit because when you rejoice, your spirit opens up

9:59 and we now rejoice at God's Word, a spirit opening up, and

10:02 then the world is not entering your spirit.

10:04 That's another way of receiving. I like this method actually.

10:09 OK, so the third way, third one is write down this word,

10:15 meditate on it and store it in your spirit or store it in your

10:20 heart. They mean practically the same

10:22 thing according to Joshua chapter one, verse 8.

10:26 Keep this book of the law always on your lips.

10:30 Meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful to do

10:35 everything written in it. Then you'll be prosperous and

10:39 successful. So there's something I usually

10:43 do. I have this little sticker

10:45 notes. So sometimes when I'm studying

10:47 the scripture and there's a verse that does hits me or maybe

10:53 verses then hits me. I mean, or maybe a chapter, I

10:56 can break it into verses. I'll write it to my sticker note

10:59 and I'll paste it in front of my wardrobe.

11:03 I'll paste on my wall. So some people come and just

11:08 enter my round. They're like, why is this here?

11:10 I say I I caught this word and I want to keep looking at it.

11:15 So what I do is that every day, I know I will surely wear

11:18 clothes every day. So as I approach my wardrobe to

11:23 bring out my clothes, I will see this sticker notes on it with

11:29 the scripture, whatever scripture it is.

11:32 Is it Jeremiah the 33 verse 3? Call unto me and I will answer

11:37 you and show you great and mighty things which you do not

11:40 know. It builds my feet, and looking

11:42 at it continuously, I will receive the word.

11:46 I will receive what the Lord has already said about say call unto

11:50 me. That means I'll receive that

11:52 deep things, the great and mighty things that He said He

11:56 will reveal unto me. OK, so it also means keeping the

12:00 world before you. That is to focus on the world,

12:04 not mixing it with information from outside.

12:07 Not after reading the Bible. close the Bible and then you now

12:11 open social media and then whatever someone else now types

12:14 there. You told you.

12:15 Now taking the word that you studied that day and taking on

12:18 it, you will now mix it with information that you get it

12:22 around and the information you get it or not.

12:24 Even the scripture. Might be news, might be 1

12:28 ideology or something. You now mix it together.

12:31 At the end you say the word is not working for you.

12:33 You never receive did and you never received the word OK, so

12:40 just like you're listening, or let's say paying attention in a

12:44 class or in a meeting, your attention is fixed.

12:48 Imagine you're in a meeting and your mind is not there.

12:51 Listen, they call your attention and be like, OK, So what do you

12:53 have to say about this? Of course you won't have

12:55 anything to say because your mind wasn't there in the first

12:58 place. But imagine you are paying rapt

13:02 attention, not probably thinking about something else or doing

13:05 that thing, just an illustration.

13:08 Even though they call your attention, you're very stating

13:10 about what you say a long time ago because you are following

13:12 the discussion. OK, so the purpose of receiving

13:16 the word is to keep it in your heart.

13:20 And from keeping it in your heart, like we read earlier in

13:23 Proverbs, from your heart flows the issues of life, or from your

13:29 heart it determines how you act in everything.

13:35 OK, that is Proverbs chapter 4, verse 23.

13:39 OK, above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do

13:45 flows from it. So that's the purpose of

13:49 receiving the word, to keep it in your heart.

13:51 So from your heart lie through the Word as it flows out.

13:57 Everything you do is flowing and you're seeing the Word of God in

14:00 your entire action, your life. OK, so to know that you have

14:05 received the word in your heart, your actions will be directed by

14:10 the Word of God. Finally, Proverbs chapter 4,

14:14 verse 4B, take hold of my words with all your heart.

14:20 Keep my commands and you will leave.

14:25 Amen. So that's the end of this
