How To Believe His Word

0:08 Yes, and this is episode 4 of Deep Things of his Word.

0:14 OK, so today we are looking at something that's Mark is sequel

0:18 to the past episode. It's believing his word.

0:24 OK, So what does it really mean to believe God's word?

0:27 So in the past episode I spoke a little on believing the word.

0:31 That is if you don't reverse over the Word of God, or in that

0:34 case over any word heard or received, that means you don't

0:39 honor or believe the one who spoke the Word.

0:43 Okay, so have you ever been in a situation maybe when you were

0:47 younger and your parents promised you it is a toy, a

0:53 phone, a bicycle or anything? I bet you kept on thinking on it

0:58 with joy, anticipating the actualization of that world of

1:02 promise. Some people, probably they'll

1:05 tell them tomorrow will give you this gift, tomorrow you'll get

1:08 something from us and you already know what it might be.

1:12 So probably that night you might not sleep well.

1:14 OK, so most people, they might sleep and wake up in the next 30

1:19 minutes and they're really energized to open the gift or

1:22 open what it is. OK, so that's how it is in most

1:25 cases. So when we speak on believing

1:29 the word, what does that involve?

1:31 What does it really mean? When someone says believe the

1:35 word of God, What does it mean? It means acting or it involves

1:41 acting on the word. So in summary, how can you prove

1:47 to me that you believe what I said?

1:52 Simple by acting on it. And this is more like an

1:56 illustration. So if I were to ask you to meet

1:59 me at a shop or at a store at a mall and I tell you that I've

2:06 got something for you and I want you to come get it or come meet

2:11 me, but I think I have something for you.

2:14 You will come if you believe that there's something for you.

2:19 You believe that oh, I can actually get you something.

2:23 But you would gladly stay back if you believe that you don't

2:27 think I can ever get anything from me.

2:30 OK, You gladly stay back if you think that you can never get

2:34 anything from me. So just like Isaiah chapter 53

2:38 verse 5B, the scripture says the chastisement of our peace was

2:47 upon him and with his stripes we are healed.

2:52 When we embark on trusting and believing God's word, there are

2:55 basic things to note. One of those basic things to

2:58 note when it comes to believing and trusting God's word is first

3:02 of all, you should know that God's words are always true.

3:07 According to Psalm 119, verse 142, it says your righteousness

3:13 is everlasting and your law is true.

3:17 So, but the truth is we can't trust everything we see on

3:21 social media. Now, most of them are actually

3:26 doctored. Most of them were actually just

3:29 taped. Most of them aren't true as they

3:32 seem to be. So we can't also believe

3:34 everything everyone tells us because they are not God.

3:38 They can lie. You know, as Scripture says, I

3:41 am not a man, God is not a man, that he should lie, right?

3:45 So they are not God. So they can lie.

3:49 Even statistics, even statistics can be manipulated and

3:54 photographs can be faked, as we know now about artificial

3:59 intelligence, can fake anything or make anything we imagine come

4:03 real to a degree. You know that there's some

4:06 photographs that needs to be investigated deeply.

4:10 OK, so but the word of God is firmly fastened to eternity

4:16 according to Psalm 119 verse 8-9.

4:21 Scripture says standing firm in the heavens and fastened to

4:25 eternity is the word of God. So if you're looking for the

4:31 truest representation of the whole world or a presentation of

4:36 your life, or about your family, about your future or about God,

4:42 then come to God's word according to book of John

4:45 chapter 17, verse 17. Sanctify them by the truth.

4:51 Your word is true. So when we embark on trusting

4:55 and believing God's Word, the second thing to note is God's

5:00 word provides what is good. So according to book of Jeremiah

5:07 chapter 29 verse 11, you know this is a very popular scripture

5:13 for I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord plans to

5:17 prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a

5:23 future. According to book of John

5:25 chapter 10 verse 10, the thief comes only to steal, kill and

5:30 destroy. But I have come that you may

5:33 have life and have it to the full.

5:37 OK, so imagine returning from school and realizing your mother

5:40 is preparing something delicious in the kitchen.

5:45 You may not know what it is, but you're excited because you trust

5:48 your mother and believe it will turn out great.

5:51 Or maybe for those that are married, you trust your wife or

5:55 whoever it is that in the house to do something that will turn

5:59 out great. So this is a just a simple

6:03 analogy that was painted to show you simple ways of how you can

6:09 believe you don't see it, but you just trust that it will turn

6:13 out great. That's how it happens.

6:16 So what are we to believe in God's word?

6:20 Have you ever asked yourself, I've been listening to what they

6:23 say, OK, believe I've been shouting believe God's word.

6:26 So what exactly are you to believe?

6:29 Believe his promises, believe his word, his promises.

6:34 So what are a few of the promises?

6:36 I just stated one or two, the other promises in the

6:38 Scriptures. So one of them I pointed out is

6:42 Deuteronomy chapter 31 verse 8. It says the Lord himself goes

6:49 before you and will be with you. He will never leave you nor

6:54 forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be

6:58 discouraged. Sometimes you might feel like

7:01 you can't do it. You're in the environment and

7:05 you have already an exam and you don't even understand what

7:08 you're doing all maybe you're trying to do something new and

7:11 you're like known as gone ahead of you, known as done this

7:14 before. I want to like break a standard.

7:17 This is God's promise to you. He said he has gone before you

7:21 and he will be with you. So this is like a very strong

7:25 promise you should hold on to when you're embarking on

7:27 anything new. OK, because this is his promise

7:30 to you. The second promise highlighted

7:33 here is Proverbs chapter 32 verse 8 says I will instruct you

7:38 and teach you in the way you should go.

7:41 I will counsel you with my loving eyes on you.

7:45 So sometimes you might be confused about something you

7:50 might be the one to teach people something.

7:52 I am not even really sure about it yourself or you have been

7:55 introduced a very new concept of some things and you're like, how

8:00 do I go about this? God is telling you I'm promising

8:03 you that he will cancel you. He will teach you, he will

8:06 instruct you right, So you don't have to go through some steps

8:09 the first time you know, you can go with go through it with God

8:13 by your side. OK, so and his counsel will be

8:16 with you with his loving eye. Imagine someone closing,

8:20 monitoring your steps. Even if you feel like you want

8:22 to fall, you can be sure that you can shake and fall, and

8:26 you're sure that someone is there to pick you up and keep

8:29 helping you. OK, so but with Him you can

8:32 never fail. Then the next promise

8:35 highlighted here is Psalm chapter 37.

8:39 From verse 23 to 24, the Lord makes firm the steps of the one

8:45 who delight in Him. Though he may stumble, he will

8:49 not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.

8:55 Though you may stumble, like we just said earlier on, you will

8:58 not fall. So imagine things are looking

9:01 like it's over. It's like you're going through a

9:05 big challenge and it's a lot of current alone.

9:08 The Lord is telling you that your steps, each one is firmly

9:14 held and firmly monitored by the Lord, because why are you

9:17 delighting him? So?

9:18 This is like a principle to the promise.

9:20 So if you delight in the Lord, your steps will be made firm by

9:25 the Lord, and He will make it so firm that even if you want to

9:29 fall and you don't stumble, you will never fall, because with

9:32 His right hand, with his hand, He will uphold you.

9:36 Then the next promise here is Matthew Chapter 11, verse 28.

9:41 Come to me, all you who are weary and burgeoned, and I will

9:47 give you rest. People, you know 1 of this I'm

9:50 giving aspirations to. This doesn't really mean this is

9:52 the only explanation. When you bring a promise, it can

9:55 be anything at any point in time to you.

9:59 It can maybe be what you anybody least expects for you.

10:03 Maybe you will find it hard to sleep at night.

10:06 Maybe you're troubled a lot because you're thinking about

10:08 how your presentation will go, thinking about how your project

10:11 will go, thinking about whether you'll be approved or not,

10:14 thinking about whether you pass or not.

10:15 Those are chaos. Those are problems, those are

10:20 things that can disturb your peace and those can make you

10:23 those things can make you restless, can make you weary,

10:25 can make you burdened. But he says, come all you who

10:29 are burdened and weary and I'll give you rest.

10:34 So you're sure that you can have peace in the midst of storm.

10:38 Those like Jesus was sleeping in the boat that was going through

10:43 storm. So that's how you can feel even

10:46 if things are going wrong because why he has promised it

10:50 another promise. Here is Isaiah chapter 40 verse

10:53 31. But those who hope in the Lord

10:56 will renew their strength. They will soar like wings those

11:01 so but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

11:06 They will saw on wings like eagles, they will run and not go

11:14 weary, they will walk and not be faint.

11:18 So if you put your trust in the Lord, you're sure that even if

11:23 you feel weak, if you never ever feel weak, because every moment

11:28 your strength is renewed. He's not called the Almighty

11:32 just for calling sake. He has all the might so He can

11:35 decide to thus endow you with a certain strength that you won't

11:39 even know where it come from. People are like, how do you, how

11:41 are you able to do to do this kind of things?

11:43 How do you do this without breaking down?

11:45 How don't you have media burnout?

11:47 How don't you have this? How don't you have that?

11:49 That's because I have kept my hope in the Lord and my strength

11:54 has been renewed. I now saw on wings like eagles

11:58 and I can run and never be tired and walk and never grow away,

12:03 grow faint. OK, so that is.

12:07 And I promise now the least, the last promise, not the least.

12:11 I call this Philip the 419 So Philippians chapter 4, verse 19

12:17 and my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of

12:22 his glory in Christ Jesus. So when things are looking like

12:27 you're looking for forward to something, you want God to

12:31 provide something for you and you have not seen it, you don't

12:35 know where to get it from, there are no funds, you're working

12:39 towards a project and it's looking hard and difficult.

12:43 What is our confidence today that load provide all our your

12:48 needs, all your needs. So he's not going to provide

12:53 some and leave the other ones and say I'll handle half your

12:55 handle half no who provide all your needs.

12:58 And that's a promise you can also hold on to when you're

13:00 trusting God for something, maybe a financial breakthrough,

13:03 A numerical breakthrough, any need at all.

13:06 The Lord is ever ready right there to provide all your needs.

13:11 OK, so that is for today's episode.

13:19 listed here there a lot actually.

13:21 But if I'm to list them, oh, we ain't going back today.

13:24 OK, So go back to all these promises and see the reasons why

13:29 you trust God and meditate on them.

13:31 Because how do you believe God's word by acting on them and how

13:36 will you act on them if you don't even know them, right?

13:38 So you have to go through this. And also I indulge you and

13:42 encourage you. I encourage you to form a

13:45 reading habit of the Word of God.

13:48 Form habit of. I encourage you to form the

13:53 habit of studying God's Word. OK, so that is for now.
