How To Engage His Word

0:06 Yes, and this is episode 5 of Deeptence of his word.

0:13 So from the last episode, which is believe in the word that was

0:17 on that step we learnt to gaining from the word of God.

0:21 So for today's episode, Please note our episode today is what

0:26 engaging the world. So how can one engage the world?

0:31 Take note of this. Engaging the world is the secret

0:35 to benefiting from the world. Most times people ask questions

0:40 like why can't they benefit from God's word?

0:44 Or why doesn't the world work in their lives.

0:47 The truth is, if 80% of Christians study the world, 60%

0:53 receives it, 40% believes it, but only 10% or less engage the

1:01 word of God according to Jeremiah chapter 15 verse 16.

1:06 When your words came, I ate them.

1:10 They were my joy and my heart's delight.

1:14 For I bear your name, Lord God Almighty.

1:18 OK. So until you engage the word of

1:21 God, it will not benefit you. They have 3 dimensions to the

1:26 story of God's word. So the story of the Bible.

1:29 So I'm going to just highlight this an aside why it is

1:32 important for this episode. So the first dimension is the

1:36 historical dimension, second is the revelational dimension, and

1:41 the third is the prophetic dimension.

1:44 So you have to go beyond the historical and seek for the

1:47 revelational and prophetic dimension for it to work for

1:51 you, for you to be able to engage it, you have to go beyond

1:54 just what is within history. So what do I mean by all this?

1:59 Let's look at an example. According to Jeremiah chapter

2:03 33, verse 3, Scripture says call to me and I will answer you and

2:09 tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

2:13 So in the historical dimension you will think it is just God

2:17 speaking to Jeremiah about the restoration of Israel and Judah.

2:21 In the revelational dimension, you will realize that this is a

2:26 promise God is making to you, to somebody, to anybody, to people,

2:32 to His people, knowing that God's word is true and He does

2:36 not break His promise. According to Matthew chapter 24,

2:40 verse 35, Mark chapter 13, verse 31, Luke chapter 21 verse 33,

2:47 they all say the same thing and what do they say?

2:50 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not

2:54 pass away. So the third dimension is in the

2:57 prophetic dimension. It can be a word from God to you

3:01 whereby God is assuring you of His presence when you call unto

3:06 Him. Possibly you are asking God to

3:09 reveal some answers to you or to open your eyes concerning some

3:13 events unfolding your family, in your business or even in your

3:17 career. And knowing His what is true,

3:20 you can trust Him and with understanding and intentionality

3:25 you can call unto Him and be confident with faith that God

3:29 will answer you OK. Take note of this He said, and

3:33 knowing His word is true, which is that time reminded the 33

3:38 verse 3. Knowing that His word is true

3:41 towards you, you can trust Him. And with understanding and

3:46 intentionality, you can call unto God can call unto Him and

3:53 be confident with faith that God will answer you.

3:57 OK, so listen a practical way, you can recognise that this word

4:02 from God is beyond historical representation.

4:05 Is that that word that verse or verses that you read and

4:12 received will stand out as though it was for you or for

4:17 your situation. So according to Isaiah Chapter

4:21 9, verse 8, though it says the Lord sent a word into Jacob and

4:28 it had lighted upon Israel, when the word of God comes, it comes

4:33 as light. It grants you direction.

4:38 So according to Psalm 119, verse 105, it says your word is a lamp

4:44 for my feet, a light on my part. OK, so that's just a background.

4:51 So today we are speaking on how to engage the word.

4:56 That is how to make the word work for you.

5:00 So according to so number one, reading the word.

5:05 So it's best to pay attention to this according to First Timothy

5:11 chapter 4 verse 13. Till I come give attendance to

5:16 reading, to exaltation, to doctrine.

5:20 So when you read the word, you become aware of what God has

5:24 said about any situation and that gives you perspective.

5:29 OK now the second way of engaging the word is study the

5:34 word of God. According to Second Timothy

5:38 chapter 2 verse 15, it says study to show thyself approved

5:44 unto God, a Workman who needed not to be ashamed, rightly

5:49 dividing the world of truth. You cannot engage what you do

5:53 not know. Knowledge is an important aspect

5:57 to the journey to engage in the world.

6:00 So imagine a Med student, a medical student that maybe never

6:04 studied their human anatomy well, or their human Physiology

6:08 or study even any of their books.

6:10 Well, when they see patients, what knowledge would they

6:13 incorporate to treating the patients?

6:16 It's going to be hard to incorporate any knowledge

6:19 because they don't have it. So studying the scriptures is

6:24 primary now study grants you understanding as you can recall.

6:31 OK, maybe make reference to deep things of wisdom where we spoke

6:35 about knowledge and understanding.

6:39 So when you study, you gather concordance or Bible cross

6:44 references and maybe other similar places in the Bible that

6:49 it promised a word was repeated and you keep on reading it and

6:53 you go vast and not just filling a certain schedule, you sit with

6:58 the Word. And that brings us to our next

7:02 part of engaging the word #3 meditation on the Word.

7:07 According to Joshua chapter one verse 8, Scripture says keep

7:11 this book of the law always on your lips, meditate on it day

7:15 and night so that you may be careful to do everything written

7:20 in it. Then you'll be prosperous and

7:24 successful. So meditation makes the world to

7:27 become flesh, the world you have received, the world you have

7:31 believed, it makes it to become flesh.

7:33 And when this world becomes flesh, it becomes power, becomes

7:38 wonder, success, or what you desire.

7:41 So meditation involves continuous thinking on something

7:45 or an event. We all know what that is.

7:48 Meditation can also mean a careful and thorough thought on

7:53 something. So in this case, the word you

7:56 have understood through study is what you should have a careful

8:00 and thorough thought on. OK, so there's a connection

8:04 between meditation and lifestyle.

8:06 Please listen carefully whatever you think on for a long amount

8:11 of time, your actions will be aligned without thoughts,

8:14 whether intentionally or unintentional.

8:19 Philippians chapter 4, verse 8B. If anything is excellent or

8:23 praiseworthy, think about such things so that all your actions

8:28 will be excellent and praiseworthy.

8:31 So when you meditate on the word, the word will engage you.

8:36 So at this point the word is now you're meditating on the word.

8:39 So it's not engaging you as a person that lifestyle.

8:42 You're now going to meditate on the Scripture and you see

8:45 yourself walking in line with it.

8:47 OK, so and this brings us to the fourth way of engaging the word

8:53 of God, which is speak the Word of God speaking the word of God

8:58 according to Deuteronomy chapter 6, verse 7.

9:02 Impress them on your children, talk about them when you sit at

9:06 home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when

9:10 you get up. OK, so someone once said you

9:14 speak only what you believe. So if you speak to someone about

9:19 anything, majority of the time it is something you heard, read

9:25 or saw that you believe. OK.

9:28 The emphasis on speaking is so important that it is used in the

9:32 salvation process. If you can recall Romans chapter

9:36 10 verse 10, it says for it is with your heart that you believe

9:42 and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess

9:47 your faith and are saved. Also Luke chapter 6 verse 45, a

9:52 good man out of the good treasures of his heart, bring it

9:57 for that which is good. And an evil man out of the evil

10:03 treasures of his heart, bring it for that which is evil for of

10:07 the abundance of the heart, His mouth speaking.

10:12 OK, So what do you have as your hard copy beyond just carrying

10:18 hard copy Bible around? What do you have in your heart?

10:22 The Word of God should be your hard copy, and as it is your

10:26 hard copy speak its fault. OK so this now brings us to the

10:31 next part or way of engaging the word #5 obedience to the Word

10:41 according to first John chapter 2 verse 5.

10:45 But if anyone obeys His word, love for God is truly made

10:49 complete in them, according to Hebrews chapter 4, verse two to

10:54 three a. For we also have heard the good

10:57 news proclaimed to us, just as they did.

11:01 But the message they had was of no value to them, because they

11:05 did not share the faith of those who obeyed.

11:09 Now we who have believed, enter that rest just as God has said.

11:16 Now listen. Obedience is key to engaging

11:19 God's Word. If you don't obey, it shows you

11:22 don't believe the Word. No matter how many times you

11:25 meditate, read, study, or speak the Word, without obedience you

11:31 will not witness the power in the Word of God.

11:34 When you obey God's Word, His love is made complete in you.

11:38 All right, so now to wrap up all these steps or ways of engaging

11:44 the Word, we have the 6th and very important step, Pray the

11:50 Word according to Mark Chapter 11, verse 24.

11:55 Therefore, I will tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer,

12:01 believe you have received it and it will be yours.

12:05 I come again, therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in

12:09 prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be

12:13 yours. This is vital in engaging the

12:16 Word. Pray for the word you have

12:19 received and believed, but pray with faith and do no doubt and

12:25 you'll see the result of the word after you have engaged the

12:29 steps. OK, so thank you so much for
